• WHAT A SPUN SEDIMENT CARTRIDGE DOES - Melt-blown polypropylene is spun into a graded structure, coarser on the outside and finer toward the core. Larger particles are held at the surface and finer ones deeper in, which uses the whole thickness of the wall rather than loading up the face. That means sand, silt, dirt, rust and scale particles.
• SEDIMENT ONLY - This cartridge does not treat chlorine, taste or odor. There is no carbon in it. If taste and smell are what you are trying to fix, you want a carbon block or a GAC cartridge instead, and many systems run a sediment cartridge first with carbon behind it.
• FITS RS16-R-05 HOUSINGS - Sized for RS16-R-05 and standard housings of the same dimensions. Measure your existing cartridge before ordering rather than going by the housing model alone, since the same model number sometimes covers more than one length.
• MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER - A 1 micron cartridge holds finer particles but loads faster than a coarser rating, so on a well or a heavy sediment supply you may prefer a 5 micron ahead of it. Falling pressure at the taps is the signal to change it, not the calendar.
