• FOUR CARTRIDGES, CARTRIDGES ONLY – Four carbon block cartridges for the filter positions in a UF50 class system. There is no reverse osmosis membrane in this pack and no housing wrench. A membrane typically runs two to three years against six to twelve months for the cartridges, so most services do not need one - but if yours is due, the kit with the membrane is the other option on this listing.
• WHAT THE CARBON STAGE DOES – Compressed carbon block holds the media in a fixed bed, so water moves through it evenly instead of finding low-resistance paths. It reduces chlorine taste and odor, and in doing so protects the membrane behind it, because chlorine shortens membrane life more than anything else in normal household water. Keeping these cartridges fresh is what makes the membrane last.
• ✅EFFICIENCY: Our water filter cartridge eliminates pollutants and impurities from water. At the same time, it effectively preserves many vital minerals. For optimal performance, water filter cartridges should be replaced every 3 to 6 months based on your water quality.
• CHECK YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE YOU ORDER – Fits systems numbered UF50, UF50N, UF50T, UF22, UF22T, 21176, 21179 and 21191. It does NOT fit the Ultrefiner II, which changed in 2013 and takes a different cartridge - if your system was installed after that, check the model plate before ordering. Count your housings too: this pack covers four cartridge positions.
• MATCH THE SCHEDULE TO THE STAGE – Most households change these cartridges every six to twelve months depending on use and water quality. Replace them on schedule even if the water still tastes fine, because a spent carbon stage stops shielding the membrane and the membrane is the expensive part of the system. Flush the new cartridges before you drink from the system.
