• THE TWO STAGES THAT CHANGE TWICE A YEAR – A five stage system runs a sediment filter and a carbon block ahead of the membrane, and those two do the work that wears out fastest. The sediment holds back sand, silt and rust. The carbon block takes chlorine out before it reaches the membrane, which is the single thing that shortens membrane life fastest. Change the pair every six months and the membrane lasts years.
• BETTER-TASTING WATER FROM EVERY SOURCE – Whether your home runs on municipal tap water or a private well, the carbon reduces the chlorine taste and odor that make water unpleasant to drink and cook with — better-tasting water from the system you already own. For certified reduction of specific contaminants, look for cartridges tested to NSF/ANSI 53 for those claims.
• WHAT IS IN THE SET AND WHAT IS NOT – One 5 micron sediment cartridge and one 5 micron coconut shell carbon block, both standard 10 by 2.5 inch. They cover the two prefilter positions in the H5000 five stage system and most other four and five stage systems. The membrane, the granular carbon stage and the inline post filter are separate parts and are not included here.
• MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER – Cartridges are maintenance parts, not water treatment plans, and no single one handles everything. Carbon reduces chlorine taste and odor. Sediment media captures sand, silt, dirt and rust. For any specific contaminant you are concerned about, look for a system certified to the NSF/ANSI standard that names it. If you are on a private well, start with a water test.
• FITS THESE PART NUMBERS – Both cartridges are standard 10 by 2.5 inch, so the set covers far more than one system. The 5 micron sediment replaces P5, AP110, WHKF-GD05, WFPFC5002, SDC-25-1005 and 155014-43. The 5 micron carbon block replaces FXWTC, WFPFC8002, WFPFC9001, WHCF-WHWC, SCWH-5, CTO10 and C-1. The membrane, granular carbon and inline post filter are separate parts and are not included.
