• FITMENT: Replaces Whirlpool EDR4RXD1, EveryDrop Filter 4, UKF8001, UKF8001AXX, UKF8001AXX-750, UKF8001AXX-200, UKF8001P, 4396395, WF295, RWF0900A, RFC0900A, FMM-2, 9084 and Kenmore 46-9006, 469006, 9006. Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air all sell this same cartridge under their own code, so the box in your cupboard may read any of those numbers. Read the number printed on the filter you are pulling out — the cartridge number confirms fit, the badge on the door does not.
• TASTE: Built to NSF/ANSI 42, the aesthetic standard — chlorine, chloramine, odour and the fine sediment that leaves water looking cloudy in the glass. Municipal chlorine is what people notice first in a Whirlpool ice cube, and this is the standard that governs it. The calcium, magnesium and potassium that stop water tasting flat stay exactly where they are.
• BUILD: A coconut-shell activated carbon block at 5 micron in a BPA-free, food-grade housing, with a high-flow core that holds dispenser pressure and ice output from the first glass to the last. Install on cold water lines only.
• LIFESPAN: 300 gallons or six months per cartridge, whichever arrives first — about ten cents a gallon. This 2-pack is a full year of covered water in one order, at a lower cost per month than buying singles. Replace sooner if flow slows or the taste changes; that is the filter working, not failing.
• INSTALL: Push it into the housing until it clicks, close the door, then run and discard two to three gallons. A cloudy first glass is carbon dust clearing the new block — it is gone inside a minute and it is not a defect. No tools, no shut-off valve, no plumber.
