About This

• THE WRENCH FOR A STUCK WIDE BODY SUMP - Slides over the filter canister on EPWO4, EPW4F, EPW4C, GXWH40L and GXWH35F and other 10 x 4.5 inch large capacity housings and gives you the leverage to break a sump that has tightened over a service interval. Moulded plastic, so it grips the sump ribs without the gouging a strap wrench leaves on the housing.
• MEASURE BEFORE YOU ORDER - The inside diameter of this wrench is 5.9 inches, measured between the notches. That is the wide body size. A standard 10 by 2.5 inch slim line housing takes the smaller 3.6 inch wrench instead, and this one will not grip it. Measure the widest part of your canister if you are not sure which you have.
• WHY THE SUMP STICKS - Housings tighten as the O-ring compresses and the threads take on mineral scale over months in service, which is why a sump that went on hand tight often will not come off by hand. Fit the wrench squarely and turn steadily rather than jerking it, and lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease on reassembly so the next change is easier.
• COMPATIBLE REPLACEMENT, NOT AN ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER PART - CFS is an independent brand. This is a compatible replacement, not an original manufacturer part, and manufacturer names and part numbers are used for reference only to show what it fits.
• A TOOL, NOT A FILTER - This listing is the wrench on its own. It contains no filter cartridge, no O-ring and no housing, and it does not treat water in any way. Cartridges for wide body housings are sold separately.
