CLARIFY FIRST, THEN SANITIZE: Cloudy water shields germs from disinfectant and wastes the sanitizer you add. This pre-treatment kit settles out the cloudiness so your own sanitizer, filter or membrane straw has clearer water to work with.
DUAL COAGULANTS: 500 g polyferric sulfate and 500 g polyaluminum chloride bind fine suspended particles into clumps that can settle.
THREE POLYACRYLAMIDE FLOCCULANTS: 250 g each of cationic, anionic and non-ionic grades build clumps into heavy flocs, so you can jar-test which grade suits your water.
MEASURE AND REPEAT: Includes a 1 L mixing bottle, pH test strips, 1 ml and 5 ml pipettes and a 1 g spoon. Dosing is in milligrams, not scoops. Typical process: rapid mix 2 minutes, slow mix 10 minutes, settle 30 minutes. Capacity depends on turbidity: about 2,000 gallons of highly turbid water, 5,000 or more gallons of moderately turbid water, and close to 10,000 gallons of lightly turbid water.
PRE-TREATMENT ONLY: Not a sanitizer. This kit clarifies water and does not make it safe to drink or remove bacteria, viruses or parasites. Sanitize or filter the clarified water your usual way. Replace within about 12 months of opening.
