About This

• CLARIFY FIRST, THEN SANITIZE: Cloudy water shields germs from disinfectant and wastes the sanitizer you add. This pre-treatment kit settles out the cloudiness so your own sanitizer, filter or membrane straw has clearer water to work with.
• TWO COAGULANTS, THREE FLOCCULANTS: 500 g each of polyferric sulfate and polyaluminum chloride, plus 250 g each of cationic, anionic and non-ionic polyacrylamide. Jar-test the three grades side by side to find what works on your water.
• PH CONTROL INCLUDED: 250 g soda ash (raises pH) and 250 g citric acid (lowers pH), with standard and enhanced pH test strips, so you can reach the pH range where coagulation works.
• TOOLS FOR TOUGH WATER: 250 g bentonite clay to help clear low-turbidity or stubborn water, grade 90 cheesecloth, a 1 L mixing bottle, three pipette sets and two 1 g spoons. Dosing is in milligrams, not scoops. Capacity depends on turbidity: about 2,000 gallons of highly turbid water, 5,000 or more gallons of moderately turbid water, and close to 10,000 gallons of lightly turbid water.
• PRE-TREATMENT ONLY: Not a sanitizer. This kit clarifies water and does not make it safe to drink or remove bacteria, viruses or parasites. Sanitize or filter the clarified water your usual way. Cationic polyacrylamide-treated water should not be consumed directly.
