About This

• Sediment, carbon block and a 150 GPD membrane; a full service for a 3 stage RO system
• THREE STAGES, MEMBRANE INCLUDED - One sediment prefilter, one carbon block cartridge and one 150 GPD thin film composite reverse osmosis membrane. That is a complete service for a standard three stage under-sink system, with the membrane in the box rather than sold separately. The cartridges are identical across every rating on this listing - only the membrane changes.
• MATCH THE RATING TO YOUR SYSTEM - Read this before stepping up. Every RO system runs a flow restrictor sized to its membrane. Fit a faster membrane without changing the restrictor and the ratio of filtered water to drain water goes wrong: too little drain flow scales the membrane early, too much wastes water and drops tank pressure. Unless you are changing the restrictor too, choose the rating your system already runs.
• WHAT EACH STAGE DOES - The sediment prefilter reduces sand, silt and rust so nothing downstream is doing particulate work. The carbon block reduces chlorine taste and odor, and in doing so protects the membrane, because chlorine shortens membrane life more than anything else in normal household water. The membrane is the stage that reduces dissolved solids.
• MATCH THE SCHEDULE TO THE STAGE - The pieces do not share a clock. Most households change the sediment and carbon stages every six to twelve months and the membrane every two to three years. Replace the prefilters on schedule even if the water still tastes fine, because a spent carbon stage stops protecting the membrane and the membrane is the expensive part. Flush the new cartridges before you drink from the system.
